I did it!

One tiny tiptoe for me, one giant leap for the planet!!!

I bought cloth grocery bags today! I always reuse my plastic grocery bags, but they have been accumulating for years and the space underneath my sink is overflowing with Earth-destroying plastic. My new bags are nice and sturdy with long handles, they were crazy cheap and I am giddy with excitement!!! They will come in handy when I am leaving the library as well. Juggling a giant stack of books and two children is no easy feat!

In other news, it is nearly 3 AM and I am wiiiiiide awake. I've tried EVERYTHING for my insomnia in the past month, but I just can't kick it. I've tried sitting in a dark room doing absolutely nothing. I've tried laying down. I've tried a long relaxing bath. I've tried exercise to tire myself out. Reading a boring book, the list goes on and on.

I just got done going through my finances and paying bills. The stack of mail is sitting by the door ready to go. Writing out checks makes me feel so grown up! And poor. :(

Good for you, girl! I need to do this, too. Where did you get your cloth bags?

At Fred Meyer. They were only 99 cents apiece, and are so sturdy! I think Fred Meyer is mostly on the West Coast and Midwest, so I don't know if you guys have one down there. Albertson's started selling nice cloth bags too, and they are 99 cents as well. You might want to try there.

I had been looking at them online, but I wasn't going to pay 5 bucks or so for them!

I was so proud of myself for getting them, but I am soooo far from going green it is laughable! My eco friendly bags will be stuffed with poptarts, soda pop and ice cream. Just kidding! Kind of.

I've never even thought about buying cloth bags. I don't think we have any stores that sell them. Maybe I can get some off of Ebay. That is a great thing to do! You rock!

I know what you mean about feeling grown up and broke when paying bills. LOL.

Yay for the cloth bags! Nay for feeling broke!

It's good to see you posting regularly. :)

Yay Jules...I need to do that! Especially the way I shop I would only need one lmao.

So with you on feeling "grown-up" lol!

Hey--I just saw a sign on a local said having trouble sleeping? Count your blessings! Thought it was cute! :)

I need to go cloth too with our bags, though I find I use the plastic bags for garbage instead of buying kitchen bags. Good for you! What a great lesson to teach your children too. Actually cloth shopping bags would make great Christmas gifts too........

Ooh yeah they would Helen! I found a ton of patterns online for how to make them out of canvas, so you could make them with awesome fabrics too.

I use them for garbage bags in our bathroom and the little one in our room. But I seriously have probably a hundred bags under my sink, so I'll be good for a long time! LOL!
